Is it the Alps, or perhaps somewhere in the Pyrenees? No, this is Taiwan - an unexpected mountain biking paradise.
In Motion Asia spent 2 days in March 2010 with Mountain Biking Australia Editor John Hardwick, riding the fast Tonghou Trail south of Taipei followed by the legendary high-altitude single track of the NengGao West Line deep in the Central Taiwan Mountains, rated by some one of the world's top ten rides. The experience and photos from those 2 days were publised in this 4-page article by John in the August 2010 issue of Mountain Biking Australia.
Many thanks to John Hardwick (Mountain Biking Australia) for an awesome 2 days & great story!
Taiwan trail running - Slogging it out in Maokong!
In Motion Asia was pleased to team up with Action Asia Events & Race Director Michael Maddess to create the annual Maokong Trail Running Race.
As course designer In Motion Asia put together a hilly 17km long course and shorter more rolling 9km course set in the sweet collection of trails and hills of Maokong above the Taipei Zoo in Taipei's east.
The course proved to be a hit with runners alike commenting on the fantastic running and smooth flowing trails. Great to hear!
Many thanks to Action Asia Events & Michael Maddess
Taipei Thrills. From mountain biking to rock climbing, the city is an outdoor enthusiast's dream.
In Motion Asia met up with HK based editor & writer Laura Miller in September 2009 for a day of fun & adventure on the outskirts of Taipei as part of visit to Taipei for a series of publications.
We kicked the day off with a fun fixed-bridge abseil followed by 3hrs of white-water river tracing before jumping on the mountain bikes for a 40km ride onto the single track of the Tonghou Trail. Great fun & classic Taiwan adventure!
Many thanks to Laura Miller (Miller Works) for the story.
